Job Description Marketing and Communications Officer
Position: Marketing and Communications Officer
Organization: Rabbit School Organization (RSO)
Reports to: Fundraising and Communications Manager
Duty Station: Phnom Penh with occasional travel to the province
Working Hours: Part-time
Salary: Negotiable
Organization Description
The Rabbit School (RSO) is the largest and one of the very few schools for children with intellectual disabilities in Cambodia, catering for 27 years to nearly 700 children and young adults aged 4 to 25. Most of these children are excluded from public life due to negative beliefs traditionally held towards people with an intellectual disability. In addition, there are no public educational facilities provided for this group by the Cambodian government. This already vulnerable situation is amplified by the poverty in which most Cambodian families live, making it impossible to pay for their children’s special education.
We provide inclusive education to our students through specialized teachers and an environment tailored to various types of disabilities such as Down Syndrome, autism, and cognitive delays. Our schools are in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kandal, and Kampong Speu. Our mission revolves around four main areas:
- Education of young individuals with intellectual disabilities (aged 4 to 25).
- Training of teachers in special education.
- Vocational training and integration into the workforce for young individuals with disabilities.
- Advocacy for young individuals with disabilities, engaging with the government, local authorities, and the general public.
Rabbit School is embarking on a major turning point in its existence, with numerous projects currently under development. These projects aim both to expand its activities to meet the growing needs of young people with intellectual disabilities in Cambodia and to ensure its economic sustainability by creating new partnerships with donors and initiating social business activities.
